Where can you source data to enrich your product information?

Artificial intelligences like Algocat's need information to enrich product information or generate error-free descriptions. But retailers and marketplaces often have little usable technical data: how can this be remedied?

It is crucial for retailers and marketplaces tohave a properly structured catalog, with standardized product attributes; this helps to meet a number of challenges:

  • Create successful calls(prompts) to generative AIs to create personalized and original descriptions
  • Comprehensive, operational search filters
  • Automatically create thematic landing pages
  • Comply with the requirements of the marketplaces on which the catalog is distributed
  • Comply with legal constraints

Extractive artificial intelligences like Algocat's require technical product information from the manufacturer, in order to retrieve and normalize the attributes of each product.

However, in many cases, retailers and marketplaces cannot provide this technical information, and this - non-exhaustive - list gives some reasons for this:

  • The supplier or vendor provides few or no details about its products
  • In theabsence of an MIP, the existing catalog is entered directly on the website, and there is no way of retrieving it from the information system.
  • They are in a format that is difficult to use (e.g. PDF file).
  • For own-brand products, they are found in exchange files between the retailer and the manufacturing plant.

Algocat has therefore developed a data collection service, which is called up prior to classification, attribute extraction and customized description generation.

This service collects the necessary data from a wide variety of sources:

  • Office files (PDF, Word, ...)
  • URL to manufacturer's website (data sheet or marketing content)
  • Web crawl to existing site to process existing catalog or external sites

Algocat adapts to any situation toobtain the data required to provide the necessary enrichments and improve the SEO and performance of the online catalog.
